Giving a Gift That Keeps on Giving!!
Fellow Eagle Track and Field Alumni, Family, Friends, and Philanthropists, we are pleased to announce our new Endowment program and ask you to join us in ensuring the financial strength of our beloved program through investment for years to come!
Why Give? A program of firsts!!
Many of you are aware of the pioneering exploits of the NCCU Track and Field Program. The most successful athletic program in the University’s Athletics Department.
*In almost 75 years, this program has produced 7 Olympic medalists (5 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze medals),
*19 (including 3 female) National Champions,
*1 NAIA National Championship (1972), 2 runner-up finishes (1964, 1971), 4th place (the highest finish of any HBCU-1972), and 6th place (1964) in the NCAA Division I Championships. In addition, a 3rd place NCAA Division II indoor finish(2007).
*6 conference titles (including 4 consecutive).
*Athletics 1st international star (Lee Calhoun)
*A world renowned National Hall of Fame coach who would become NCCU’s 5th Chancellor (Dr. LeRoy Walker).
*With the exception of Villanova, and Tennessee, the most Penn Relay Wall of Fame plaques in the 120 year history of this fabled meet (9).
*The first NCCU female team, and HBCU to qualify for a National championship by winning a Southeast Regional (2006 Women’s Cross country team).
*A NCCU athlete still holds the oldest (43 years) Pan American Games record that many of the world’s best have been unable to break (Ronnie Ray).
